Fitness is a life sentence.
That’s why my wife and I take an hour-long hike every morning. It gets the body moving and the heart pumping. Then we have a protein shake instead of breakfast. It’s called the tyranny of daily maintenance.
Boulder County is one of the most beautiful places in the country. The view of the mountains and high peaks from our hike is spectacular. At the top of the climb we’re rewarded by a small lake with a burbling waterfall that flows into it.
One thing that always amazes us is how many tadpoles we see in the lake every spring. Thousands of them. So why is it by the end of the summer and beginning of fall we never see more than one or two frogs in the lake?
What happened?
That’s life. It’s hard and there are no guarantees. Only a very small number of tadpoles ever become full grown frogs. Most never make it.
It’s the same everywhere. Take Real Estate for instance. For every 100 new agents 87 fail within 5 years and only 20% of those left earn over $100,000 per year. That’s less than 3% of the original 100! It’s the same for stock brokers. Most of those who pass the series 7 and 63 tests and become registered representatives never make it past their first year.
About 2 percent make it a long term career.
Success in any venture takes work. It takes the kind of commitment that Hernando Cortez had in 1519 when he set sail from Cuba to Mexico. When he arrived on the shores of the Yucatan, he commanded his army to burn the boats. The lesson was simple; they were either going to conquer or die trying.
There is a better way.
It’s called multiple streams of income. Have money coming to you from a few different sources. One of my friends told me yesterday he’s got 6 streams of income right now and he’s working on his seventh. That’s security.
